Cooking and Nutrition: Slow Cooker and Instant Pot Fall Favorites @ Stilly Valley Health Connections

Fall is a busy time of year and is a great season to dust off your slow cooker or instant pot and put them to good use. This interactive cooking demonstration will be led by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Participants will learn some best practices for slow cookers and instant pots and how to cook healthy, delicious meals.

What to Expect:
In this adult cooking demonstration class, participants learn different ideas and techniques on how to incorporate healthy choices into their meals.

Class is 90 minutes long

You will be seated, learning various recipes to make food choices that are good for your health

I teach a lesson 7:00-8:15, then DJ a variety of music for a variety of partner dances 8:15-10:00. About 2/3 of the crowd comes to the lesson with a partner, and the other 1/3 rotate around dancing with each other. Once the dance starts, everybody dances with everybody else. Each month’s lesson focuses on a different dance and we work through it progressively throughout the month. For the dance, I play music for all of the dances that I teach.
This group ranges from 60-100 people.
* Footwork and timing are taught the first week of each month.
The cost is $5 per person per night.

Description

This one-day program for people older than 50 is designed to enhance the driving skills of the mature adult. Insurance companies are required to give a discount on auto insurance for those over age 55 who complete the course.

Course Fee

Course fee is $15 for AARP members; $20 for non-members.

Stop the Bleed @ Skagit Valley Hospital, Sahale Conference Room

Control Life-Threatening Bleeding

During this free, hands-on training you will learn various ways to control life-threatening bleeding after an individual has sustained an injury from an everyday emergency, man-made or from a natural disaster. You will be given a list of items to create your own Stop the Bleed® emergency kit. The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma is leading the effort to save lives by teaching the civilian population to provide vital initial response to stop uncontrollable bleeding in emergency situations. Tyler Dalton, Trauma Coordinator at Skagit Valley Hospital and Tiffany Jayne, Trauma Coordinator at Cascade Valley Hospital will be teaching this one-hour training. Please note this is not a first aid class.
