“Cornerstone tailors patient care to the needs of each individual. Whether we’re working with primary care doctors, therapists, opportunities for patient support, or even fighting insurance companies for approvals, our top priority is always advocating for our patients,” explained Kelly Gies, COO and Part-Owner of Cornerstone Prosthetics and Orthotics. As technology continues to advance, we’re excited to be on the front lines bringing these changes to our patients. Cornerstone offers the latest technology from Ossur, Ottobock, Click Medical, Willowwood, and Martin Bionics, but we’re also developing it in-house. Here are some of the latest advanced technology for orthotics and prosthetics.
New Technology in the Dynamic Brace
A Cornerstone Dynamic Brace adapts to you. Cornerstone co-developed a custom device built with post dynamic element (PDE) dynamic spring that allows the brace to adapt to the energy at toe-off, which helps to normalize gait.
Many patients report that the Dynamic Brace helps to substantially reduce their pain, thereby allowing them to increase their functional activities. We have found that the Dynamic Brace often aids in improving balance, increasing participation in activities, increasing functional mobility, and has even allowed some marginally functional patients to run. It can be used for people with damage to the foot/ankle complex and even some partial foot amputees. The same carbon technology utilized in the dynamic AFO is also seen in our patented Motivity partial foot prosthesis.
Microprocessor Knees and Feet, I-Limbs and Hands
Cornerstone Prosthetics and Orthotics offers the latest innovative technology to give amputees access to highly advanced prosthetics. Cornerstone patients have been fitted with microprocessor knees and feet, I-Limb hands, and advanced socket designs, impacting their ability to maintain or improve their quality of life.
Symphonie Aqua System
With the new and innovative Symphonie Aqua System, it is now possible to create more accurate socket casts for our amputees – by recording the full load of the residual limb while it is in the prosthetic socket. This actual, real life simulation produces a perfectly fit cast. Better casting equals a better socket and outcome. Our patients are thrilled: everything is possible again! From weightlifting, mountain biking, snowboarding and kickboxing. The Symphonie Aqua System harnesses the power of water to create a more accurate and comfortable socket.
New Technology in Drop Foot Braces
Recovering stroke patients have access to the drop foot braces in order to increase mobility. These lightweight carbon fiber braces improve walking by reducing, preventing, and limiting movement of the lower leg and foot by supporting weak muscles.
